Research at the Tulane National Biomedical Research Center (TNBRC) advances human and animal health through basic and applied biomedical research, with priority areas that include emerging infectious diseases and biodefense, maternal and pediatric health, aging, and chronic disease. TNBRC investigators study the intersection of infection, immunity, aging, and chronic disease and collaborate with researchers at Tulane and institutions worldwide to develop disease models, diagnostics, vaccines, preventive strategies, and therapeutics. This research uses the most relevant and appropriate methodologies, including nonhuman primate and other animal models, in vitro and in silico approaches, and New Approach Methodologies.
TNBRC faculty hold academic appointments in the Tulane School of Medicine, the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and the Tulane School of Science and Engineering. Most devote their full professional effort to research at the TNBRC’s Covington campus.
